Author: Marta Desviat

Today we interview an Amadeus Rail team member based in Nice, Michel Delrieu, Programs Director. Read on to get to know his view on the rail industry and how his work does contribute to making booking rail easier.

What’s your role at Amadeus Rail?

I am in charge of leading the RAILyourWAY evolution for European railways. This means taking care of the implementation of the different rail projects for our customers.

How does your role help make booking rail easier?

I joined Amadeus back in 1988, passing through different departments such as Airline IT, Car rental and Hotel, Digital Strategy, Corporate booking solutions and now part of the Amadeus Rail team. This constant learning has given me a deeper travel industry understanding, thus helping me to pursue a connected travel ecosystem in which rail content is an integral part.

"That's why my role now is to help railways to have a successful project, enabling them to connect to their travelers and the travel industry with our RAILyourWAY portfolio ."

What was the most rewarding moment of working for Amadeus Rail?

Every day is a rewarding moment. Because our daily work is bringing us closer to our common goal: making rail booking easier.

What excites you about working in the rail industry?

With passenger rail deregulation around the corner, we are just at the beginning of a new era for the rail industry. This is exciting and challenging at the same time. We will have to embrace innovation and creativity to have the same success as the airline industry experienced in the past.

If you could time travel would you go to the past or the future? Why and where?

I would like to travel to the future. To see how rail travel will be and who knows? Perhaps we can even travel and explore new planets.

What’s your favorite travel destination?

My wife is from Corsica, so for me, Corsica is the perfect travel destination.
